We had an unexpected morning rush and are picked out! We are no longer open this afternoon and have decided to close for the season.
There are two other organic strawberry operations we know of in Maine: Sand Hill in Somerville and Goranson's in Dresden.Check them out!
Though it was such a short season this time around we are so grateful for your support and hope to see you next year!
Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer,
Kate, Matt, Colin and Lil' Darlin'

Here comes the sun!
The strawberries need a morning of sun to ripen so we are open in the afternoon tomorrow, Monday, June 27th. Pickers are welcome to come between 12pm and 7pm! If you are looking for larger quantities of berries (over 15-20 lbs.) it may be faster picking at larger organic operations like Sand Hill in Somerville or Gorenson's in Dresden.
All the best,
-The folks at Ridgeside Farm

Saturday June 25th Hours
Hi friends,
They're calling this "London weather". It sure is raw out there today!
We will be open at 8am tomorrow, Saturday, June 25th. We will stay open as long as there are ripe berries out there and we will update this blog and our phone message throughout the day. It is slightly lighter picking but there are still good berries to be had! We will send out Sunday hours at the end of the day tomorrow.

Hey all!
It's great to get a little rain!
Due to the rainy weather today and some of the same expected for tomorrow, Friday June 24th, we'll be open for shorter hours from 8 - 1 pm.
We hope to be open all day Saturday and Sunday but as always check in with us (by blog or by phone 946-2091) before traveling!

Picking time!
What a glorious day! The sunshine has just been pumping the berries full of redness and sweetness!
We will be open for picking tomorrow, Monday, June 20th, from 1 - 7pm.
But we want you to know that it will be lighter picking until Wednesday. If you're hoping to pick larger quantities in one swoop we highly recommend waiting until next weekend, when the abundance of berries currently half-way there will be delightfully crimson!
If you come with your own containers please be sure to weigh them prior to picking! The scale will be set up under the barn bay. Then come on out to the field and you'll find us working hard in the garden!
Any questions? Leave a comment, email us, or call and leave a message!
Happy picking!

A few more days...
Hey there, Strawberry lovers!
The earlier berries - Wendy and Sable - are coming along but aren't ripe for picking yet. They need a couple more days to get there. We hope to open this Monday, June 20th but please check back to make sure. If you're traveling from a distance it's probably a good idea to wait till peak picking time - likely to be around June 25th, but again please check back to confirm since these things can be unpredictable!
Have a great weekend and we hope to see you next week!

Strawberry Picking 2011
Just a few more days and these strawberry beauties will be ready for picking! It isn't as early a season as we had last year but the berries will no doubt be just as sweet. Keep checking the blog for fun posts, pictures, and more info. We're hoping they'll be ready by the weekend or early next week. In the meantime, think SUN!
But remember to check back here or call us at 207.946.2091 in case the strawberry plants need a day or so to rest and ripen after busy picking!
See you soon!
This year's hours of operation will be:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The Great Berry Year of 2010!
We were lucky to have a great first year at Ridgeside Farm - the strawberries were early, abundant, and incredibly sweet. It was so much fun sharing that time with all of you and we can't wait 'til the berries are ready this year!
